Our PADI Scuba Dive Instructors
We will take you step by step through all you need to know before you even put one toe in the water. Firstly, it is important you know who is teaching you.

Our commitment to you is that you will have the same instructor from start to finish. All of our courses are taught in very small numbers, the maximum number of students per course is 4. This enables us to give you all the attention and time you need.

Here is an introduction to our team...

Spike Johnson - Scuba in Bristol Spike Johnson – Company Director
Master Instructor, HSE Scuba Diver (Archaeology & Media), First Aid at work Instructor.
Spike has been diving for 25 years and has a wealth of experience in all aspects of diving and the diving industry. Once you have passed your open water course the options you have to progress are varied and interesting, and Spike is the man for the job. He is happy to take you on your first Wreck dive, Boat dive or Deep dive or will happily teach you how to use a camera and film all your underwater adventures.
Louise Johnson - Scuba in Bristol Lou Johnson | Company Director

Lou teaches the juniors from the age of 8 and has a packed Seal Team course every week.

Sally has dived in numerous places around the world and brings to the team loads of experience and enthusiasm, she is a friendly and outgoing person and is more than happy to work with you for as long as you need to achieve your diving certification.
Bruce Pearce PADI Instructor Bruce Pearce | PADI Master Instructor, IAHD Instructor.
Bruce learned to dive whilst on holiday in Kenya back in 1991 and then caught the bug though initially only for warm water diving. Eventually having dived in a variety of places including Fiji, USA, the Caribbean, Spain, Israel, Mexico, Maldives, Norway and Egypt he was tempted to try the UK in 2002. Immediately Bruce realised what he had been missing by only ever waiting to go on holiday and within a year he had qualified as an Open Water Instructor. Instruction was a natural progression as Bruce coaches Rugby and has run training divisions for major insurance companies in the past. He now dives with an Inspiration rebreather for fun almost every weekend during the summer months and continues to Instruct because he loves it.

Andy Ford - Scuba in Bristol Andy Ford | Open Water Scuba Instructor
Andy started diving again about three years ago after a fairly lengthy break and did a Discover Scuba dive in Egypt where he got the bug for diving and for tropical waters. Upon returning and on the recommendation of a couple of friends Andy visited Subaquaholics and met Spike and his lovely wife Lou where he booked his Open Water course. Since then he has had many dives, one of the most memorable being a week on MV Cyclone last year with the club, doing the Northern Wrecks and Reefs of the Red Sea. Andy completed his Open Water Scuba Instructor last year and is now working towards his PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer qualification.
