We will take you step by step through all you need to know before you even put one toe in the water. Firstly, it is important you know who is teaching you.
Diving is all about learning how to control your buoyancy underwater and safe diving procedures such has how to monitor how much air you have, or how to equalise your ears if you feel any pressure building up (this can happen even in a swimming pool, but is very easy to learn) .We explain all the hand signals used and how to communicate underwater.
We then take you on to the poolside and show you the equipment and explain how we set it up and what all the different components do, it is not difficult or complicated.
As the session progresses we can then teach at a pace that suits you, it is a little bit like learning to ride a bike, where at first you may feel a bit wobbly, but after a bit of practice you get the hang of it. One of the best things about scuba is the freedom you feel underwater.
After you feel you have mastered the basics, we then start to show you a couple of skills. These are demonstrated by the PADI Instructor then you can have a go, there’s no pressure to get everything right first time all things new often take a bit of practice. We often explain that learning to scuba dive is similar to learning how to drive, as you may know the name of everything and what it is supposed to do however getting everything in the right sequence smoothly is often the tricky bit! Even as a qualified openwater dive you still have plenty to learn. Scuba diving is not something you can learn in one session.
